Terry O’Neil “Papa T” Tipton, 73, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his home.

Born December 10, 1949 in Whitney, he was a son of the late Raymond Lloyd Tipton and Mary Lena Mitchell Tipton. He was formerly employed with Arrow Automotive and Upstate Auto Auction. He was a mason and a member of the Lone Oak Masonic Lodge #372 in Spartanburg. He was a Shriner and a former President of the Chesnee Shrine Club.

Surviving are his daughters, Robin Tipton (Jimmy) of Boiling Springs, Terri DeeDee Tipton (Ryan) of Inman, Katie Vassey (Josh) of Chesnee; sister, Sandy Watt (Mark) of Duncan; grandchildren, Rylee Burnett, Ryan Burnett, Seth Vassey, Jaidyn Vassey; sister-in law, Frieda Tipton; nieces and nephews, Tina Walker, Dena Sims, Scott Tipton, Brea McBride, Zachary Watt and Jake Watt.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Travis O’Neil Tipton, brother, Ted Tipton and sisters, Linda Melton and Rhonda McKinney.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Whitney Cemetery with Reverend Josh Turner officiating.
