Steven Ray Evans, 66, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at Hospice House of Forest City, NC.

Born September 6, 1954 in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Wardlaw and Ethel Bagwell Evans.

Surviving is his daughter, Tonya Silvers (Thomas) of Spruce Pine, NC; sisters, Shirley Ruppe of Mayo, Linda Horne of Spartanburg, Brenda Pye (James) of Chesnee; brothers, Billy Evans of Cowpens, Terry Evans (Judy) of NC.; best friend and caretaker who was like a father figure to her, JoAnn “Peanut” Cogdell (Julie Glynn) of Ellenboro; grandchildren, Tyler Hutchins, Sierra Silvers; great-grandchildren, Alli and Jaxson Hutchins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sonya Evans Hutchins; sister, Patricia Robbins; brothers, Buddy, Berl, Gerald, Jerry and Reggie Evans.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary with Dr. Marcus Benfield officating. Burial will follow in Faith Mountain Church of the Brethren Cemetery (Providence Wesleyan).

Per the family's request, face mask MUST be worn during the visitation and funeral service at the mortuary.
