Mrs. Shirley A. GIlbert

Shirley A. Gilbert 1938-2021 Chesnee, SC. Shirley A. Gilbert, 82 went home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 12, 2021 at her home. Born in Spartanburg County on December 15, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Kelly J. Wilkerson and Opal Wilkerson. She was married to Reverend Dr. Cletus J. Gilbert for 63 years. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Gilbert served as a former pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher, clerk at Carolina Cash, welder at Spartanburg Steel, and Home Missions in Upstate New York with the Southern Baptist Convention. She attended Southeastern Theological Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest NC. Her pastor’s wife ministries included Canaan Baptist Church in Roebuck, SC, Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church in Franklinton, NC, Friendship Baptist Church in Pauline, SC, Saranac Lake Baptist Church in Upstate New York.
