The family of Shirley Hames Cash, age 89, widow of Ted Hershel Cash, mourns the loss of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She passed away on August 26,2024 following a brief illness. 

Born in Chesnee, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hollis Land and Emma Scruggs Hames. Shirley attended Central Wesleyan High School and Central Wesleyan College (now known as Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC.) She worked many years for Reeves Brothers in Chesnee, SC and was a retired administrative assistant at USC Upstate University in Spartanburg, SC. She was a devoted member of Chesnee First Baptist Church in Chesnee, SC, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir and served on numerous committees. 

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sharon Cash Southerlin (William), of Anderson, SC, son, Ted Hershel Cash, Jr. (Christina) of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren, William John Schroder IV of Greenville, SC and Tyson Hershel Cash of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Trevor Cash and Allison Roach; brothers, David Hames and K.B. Hames, and a sister, Della Hames Varner.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Douglas Hames, Ted Hames and Thomas Ed Hames, Sr. 

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 conducted by Dr. Gary J. Grogan at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the gravesite.
