Samuel Curtis Ivey, 17, passed away Saturday July 25, 2026.

Born September 19, 2008 in Spartanburg, he was the son of Natalie Gail Varner Richards (Kevin) of Gaffney and Joseph William Ivey (Jessica) of Moore. He attended Gaffney High School and Spartanburg Community College with the goal of becoming an Aerospace Engineer. He was employed with John’s Café and Catering, enjoyed skate boarding, hunting, fishing and was a member of Cannons Campground United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his brothers, Hunter Ivey of Spartanburg, Tristan Ivey of Spartanburg, Nick Richards of Gaffney, Josh Valencia of Moore, Elijah Valencia of Moore; maternal grandparents, Nathan and Gail Varner of Spartanburg; step-maternal grandparents, Wayne and Sandra Richards of Gaffney and step-paternal grandparents, Rev. Steve and Debbie Durham of Camps Creek, NC.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Karen Ivey.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 30, 2026 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary & Crematory. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Gaffney with Rev. Traci Bennett officiating.
