Roy A. Sanders Sr.

Roy Arthur Sanders Sr., 80, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born October 9, 1945, in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late James Marlin Sanders Sr. and Gladys Louise Ezell Sanders. He was employed with Milliken & Company for 35 years, proudly served our country as a Specialist Five in the United States Army where he was a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was of the Wesleyan faith, a lifelong Freemason, and a member of the Harley Owners Group.

Surviving is his daughter, Darlene Jolley (Tony) of Chesnee; son, Roy Sanders Jr. (Stacey) of Boiling Springs; cousin, Carl Eston Morris (Libby) of Spartanburg and his K-9 companions, Bella and Sadie.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by a brother, James Marlin “Jimmy” Sanders Jr. and K-9 companions, Lucy and Sadie.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, at Graham Chapel Wesleyan Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Preston Edmonds officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
