Rose Marie
Miranda
August 1, 1959 – March 24, 2026
Rose Marie Sharretts Miranda (Rosie) beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away tragically and suddenly March 24 following a car accident in Lyman South Carolina. She was 67 years old.
Born in Homerville, Georgia in 1959, she grew up in Toccoa, Georgia and despite where she lived, always considered Toccoa her true home. As a licensed cosmetologist she worked with well-known and high-profile hairdressers in Atlanta where she met the love of her life, Carlos Miranda. Carlos was an engineering graduate from Georgia Tech. They were married in 1981 in Toccoa and shared 45 wonderful years together. They were truly best friends, soul mates and madly in love. They were often described as “complementary opposites”. Carlos was studious, serious and a meticulous planner; Rosie welcomed each day as it came, bringing humor, laughter and embracing chaos. Yet when a task needed to be done, she met it with determination and heart.
Rosie’s extraordinary musical talent was evident at the very young age of four. She could hear a piece of music and then play it by ear on her flute. Many in Toccoa remember her performing on stage as early as kindergarten. As a child she once complained to her father, Dr. Archie Sharretts, that her old pieced-together flute was missing an entire section and pleaded for a complete and whole instrument. Once she received it, her skill blossomed and that flute remains a treasure today.
After marrying, Carlos and Rosie traveled the country with his work. In addition to her career in cosmetology, Rosie earned certification as a Natural Health Consultant for Nature’s Sunshine. As an herbalist she worked with several well-known international herb companies and spent a lifetime tending to people, offering healing, comfort, and compassion to all who crossed her path. Her greatest joy was with the birth of her son Miguel, followed by her daughter Jody. She embraced her true passion as a wife and mother wholeheartedly. That joy grew even deeper with the arrival of her grandson Finn, in 2021. Jody shared that her last words to her were “I love that boy so much.”
Rosie had a deep and abiding love for animals and always kept at least two rambunctious dogs underfoot. While she loved all animals, her greatest passion was for horses and she supported numerous charities and organizations dedicated to their care.
In addition to her immediate family; her husband Carlos, her son Miguel, her daughter Jody and her grandson Finn, Rosie is survived by her sister Patti McGuire Romack (Greg), her brothers Jon Sharretts (Wanda), Matthew Sharretts (Miriam), Archie Sharretts aka “Doodle”, her sisters-in-law Maria Rosa Miranda and Maria Alina Curl. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Jody Sharretts Raab, and her father Dr. Archie Sharretts and her mother Gracie Sharretts.
Rosie and Carlos built a home full of love, joy and humor. Rosie devoted her life to her family and made it clear that her husband, children and grandchild were her greatest priority and her pride. Though always graceful, she was the first to “tell you what she really thinks”. She leaves a tremendous hole in the lives of those who loved her and was truly the “glue” that held family together. She will be deeply missed for her generosity, grace and intuition as well as her love and respect for all people. Rosie will always be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, smile and unforgettable laugh.
Her compassion and grace was grounded in her faith and her deep belief in Christian values.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones to a visitation at Whitlock Mortuary on Thursday, April 2nd from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Toccoa First Methodist Church Friday, April 3rd at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
