Roger C. Stanley

Blacksburg, SC.

Roger Carlisle Stanley passed away at his home in Blacksburg, SC, on August 30, 2025, after a brief

illness with esophageal cancer.

He was born October 10, 1961, in Gaffney, SC. He was the son of Buddy

Roger Stanley and Barbara Hamrick Moorhead. He is survived by a brother, Kelly Martin Stanley

(Sandra) and was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia “Ginny” Louise Stanley. He is also

survived by a nephew Kellon Waite/Carlisle Stanley and niece, Mabryn Elizabeth Stanley Nozedar.

He had a deep and loving bond with his brother, nephew, niece and cousins Robin Bradley and

Donna Bradley Childers for their care, help and love for him especially during the last months of

his life.

Roger graduated from Gaffney High School and led a strong and bold life. He had a deep

love for family and friends and was a lifetime member of Gaffney First Baptist Church. He was

an avid fisherman, enjoyed meeting new people, talking with them and sometimes joking with

them. If anyone needed help, Roger would always offer to lend a helping hand. He and his family

enjoyed trips to Europe and Hawaii and had many fun tales to tell. He was a mentor to others,

especially his brother. They did many things together and enjoyed each other’s company. Both

turned out to be excellent cooks.

After graduating from high school, he joined the Army and

served until he was honorably discharged. He then became an electrician working in large

industrial plants. He was skilled at his job which took him to work in the states of North and South

Carolina, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania. Roger was easy to know and had a good sense of humor.

He loved animals, especially cats and he told many funny stories about his favorite cat “Oopsie” who

was full of tricks.

At Roger’s request, no formal service will be held.

The family is at their respective

homes.

He kindly requested that in lieu of flowers, please send any memorial donations to
