Ray Lee

Spartanburg, South Carolina

Ray Jennings Lee, 87 years old, husband of Joyce S. Lee, passed away the morning of Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Regional Hospice House after a brief illness. Ray was born on August 15, 1935, in Polk County, North Carolina, to the late W. Bryan and Lula Gilbert Lee.  He was educated locally and served four proud years in the United States Marine Corps. Thereafter, Ray owned and operated, for the next 50 years Ray Lee Auto Sales. He was a lifelong resident of Spartanburg County and a longtime member of Liberty United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joyce of Spartanburg, daughters, Donna Lee Harakas (Chris) of Spartanburg, and Jennifer Rae Lee of Spartanburg, brother, Paul Kenneth Lee (Gayle) of Roebuck, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Janet Lynn Lee Cunningham in 2007.

Friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, 12:00 – 12:50 pm at Liberty United Methodist Church, 2095 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm in the church with Pastor Mason Cantey officiating. A private family interment will be held following Tuesday’s service at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg.
