 Cowpens, SC.

Patricia E. Chappell, 73, loving wife of John D. Chappell, DVM, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at her home.

Born August 24, 1949 in Columbia, SC., she was a daughter of the late Meryl O. Brown and Ada Taylor Brown. She was a 1971 graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a BS in Nursing. In her early career she worked as a charge nurse at Augusta Medical Center. She left nursing to start her family in 1974.

She was a selfless and devoted mother to her five children. She fulfilled her true calling as a stay at home mother, and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and canning, and gardening. She managed to keep a neat and tidy house and yard, in spite of the menagerie of farm animals her husband accumulated. She always opened her heart and home to all animals, but dogs especially, always held a special place in her heart. She bred and raised papillons for over two decades.

Family beach trips, including special trips to Harbor Island with her brother and sister, were some of her fondest memories. She was able to spend some of her final days surrounded by her family at the beach. She was the heart and soul that bonded her family together, always providing selfless care and nurturing comfort in every situation. Faith in God, and her family and friends were essential parts of her life.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Jenny Charissa Thompson (Kenneth) of Perrysburg, OH, Whitney Chappell Grove (Ryan) of Greenville, SC, Katherin Taylor Chappell (Chip) of Cowpens, SC, Sara Elizabeth Roux (Chris) of Spartanburg, SC, John Zachary Douglas Chappell (Kacie) of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren, Nathan, Chari, Ellerbe, Colby, Cash, Clay, Everhett and Briar; brother, Harold Brown of Gaffney, SC.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Joice Thor.

The family will hold a private celebration of her life at the family home.
