Mary Jo Williams
Mary Jo Williams, 89, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1931 in Houston, TX to Nora and John Wesley Hobgood. She spent her childhood years with her large family in Holcomb, MS. She married Elton Von Stegall in 1948 and spent her most of her early adulthood in Meridian, MS, where they raised their four children. There, in Meridian, she was well known for her antique shop and her love of antiquing. She later married Clayton Thomas “Pat” Williams and moved to Chesnee, SC. Naturally, she continued her hobby of buying, selling and trading antiques in South Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clayton Thomas Williams, ex-husband Elton Von Stegall, Sr., mother Nora Ely Hobgood Frazier, father John Wesley Hobgood, step-mother Wilma Hobgood, step-father D.W. Frazier, brothers Buddy Hobgood, Gene Hobgood, Rusty Hobgood, Roy Hobgood, Randy Hobgood and sister Barbara Hobgood Johnson.
She is survived by her sisters Peggy Hobgood Saunders and Wesley Ann Hobgood Carraway, her children Elton Von Stegall, Jr. (Dianne), Terry Stegall Box (Mike), Jodi Stegall Boggs, Lee Hunter Stegall (Tami) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in Springhill Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating.
