Catherine Lavinia Williams, 97, of Spartanburg, entered the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on December 25, 2022 joining her husband, son, and other loved ones for her first Christmas in heaven.

She was the devoted wife of the late Carl Wyatt Williams. She was a wonderful, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the oldest member of Buck Creek Baptist Church having attended for over 77 years. She faithfully visited the sick and the elderly until her own health failed in recent years. She initiated visits with those in nursing homes and introduced new pastors to them. She selflessly provided transportation for other ladies to visit with her, as well. She modeled an open arm and open-door policy to her family and their friends. Her gentle, gracious spirit was a welcomed retreat for many. She learned from Jesus Himself and taught others of His love.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Randy (Jan) Williams, of Chesnee, daughters, Barbara (O’Neal) Mintz of Chesnee, Joan (Don) Greene of Inman, and Lynne (Glen) Coyle, of the home, and a daughter-in-law, Gail Williams, of Chesnee; sister Geraldine Ivey and predeceased by a son Denny Williams; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thurday December 29,2022 at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Rev Scott Schrimser, Rev. Don Greene and Rev. Chris Gulledge officiating. A private burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs Williams will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Buck Creek Baptist Church Food Pantry, 506 Buck Creek Road, Chesnee, SC 29323 or Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
