Kelly Melinda Kinsland

Jul 22, 1982 — Oct 6, 2026

Pacolet, SC.

Kelly Melinda Kinsland, 44, passed away following a sudden illness, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and a life that ended far too soon.

Kelly had a beautiful, classically trained voice and studied opera singing at Eastern Carolina University. Music was one of her great gifts, and although she did not ultimately pursue singing, those who had the opportunity to hear her sing knew just how remarkable her voice could be.

Throughout her life, Kelly worked primarily in customer service, where her ability to communicate and connect with people served her well. Her life did not necessarily follow the traditional path of marriage, children, or a long-term career, but those things alone do not define the significance of a person's life or the place they hold within a family.

One of Kelly's greatest sources of companionship and happiness was her beloved yellow Labrador Retriever, Zoey. Kelly absolutely adored Zoey, who was much more than a pet to her. She was Kelly's companion, her comfort, and an important part of her everyday life. The bond they shared was unmistakable to anyone who knew Kelly well.

Kelly also shared a particularly special bond with her mother, Phyllis. Their relationship was an important and enduring part of Kelly's life. For those who knew how close they were, there is comfort in imagining mother and daughter together again after such a brief separation.

Kelly is survived by her sister, Connie; her niece, Elizabeth; and a large extended family of relatives who will remember her in their own ways and carry their own memories of her. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Phyllis, and her father, Steven.

There will always be things Kelly did not get the chance to do and chapters of her life that were never written. But a person's life cannot be measured simply by degrees earned, careers established, marriages, or children. Kelly was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a family member, a gifted singer, and the devoted human to a yellow Lab who knew without question that she was loved.

Kelly was here. She was part of our family, and she mattered. Her voice, her presence, and the space that was uniquely hers will be missed.

May she rest in peace, reunited with the mother she loved so dearly.

Both Kelly and Phyllis will be remembered at a joint Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at 2:30pm at Inman United Methodist Church (27 Bishop Street, Inman, SC 29349). All are invited to fellowship in the church gym immediately following the service.
