Joyce Ann Bounds, née Minster, a beloved mother, sister, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home in Spartanburg, South Carolina on May 20, 2026, after an illness. Born on February 20, 1941, in Dansville, New York, Joyce's life was marked by dedication to her family, her work, and the places she called home.
A proud graduate of Dansville High School in Dansville, New York, Joyce embarked on a career path characterized by commitment and care. Throughout her working years, she was employed at Marcus Whitman School in Rushville, New York, Phillips 66, and later at the Charles Lea Center in Spartanburg. Her contributions in these roles reflected her compassionate nature and tireless work ethic.
Joyce’s family remained at the heart of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Burrell (Jamey) of Spartanburg, whose love and support were a constant source of joy. She also leaves behind her sisters Linda Perry of Lincolnton, North Carolina; Deborah White of Landrum; and Judy Bailey of Dundee, New York. Joyce’s legacy extends through her five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nathan Bounds, daughter Annette Nesbitt, son Jeffrey Bounds, brother Harrison "Sonny" Minster and her two sisters, Sue Hainsworth and Donna Welton. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew Joyce and felt the warmth of her presence.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Center Cross Church, located at 594 Dillon Street in Chesnee, South Carolina (zip code 29323). This gathering offers an opportunity for friends and family to honor Joyce’s memory and the profound impact she had on their lives.
Joyce Ann Bounds’s life was one of quiet strength, devoted service, and deep affection for her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy woven through the lives she touched and the communities she served. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
