Joshua Edward Gowan, known affectionately as Josh to his family and friends, passed away on April 2, 2026. Born on October 19, 1984, in Spartanburg, Josh was a dedicated construction worker whose commitment to his craft was evident throughout his career.

Josh was born into a loving family and was a cherished son of Judy Elaine Blackwell and Ryan Keith Gowan. He grew up surrounded by the support and care of his stepmother, Dana Gowan, and shared a close bond with his siblings—Jonathan Spicer, Dustin Miller, Austin Gowan, Chase Gowan, Taylor Gowan, and April Shields. These family ties were a significant part of his life and provided a network of love and companionship.

Throughout his life, Josh's character was shaped by the values instilled in him by previous generations, including the memory of his grandparents: Estelle Gowan, Ryan Gowan, Shirley Brown, and Don Blackwell, who have all passed on but remain fondly remembered.

Josh also found joy and comfort in the companionship of his beloved dog, Ali, who was a constant presence and a source of happiness in his life.

His passing is not only a loss to those who were fortunate to know him personally but also to the community where he lived and worked. Josh's contributions and the sincere relationships he cultivated over the years will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection.

The family extends their gratitude for the support they have received during this difficult time and remembers Joshua Edward Gowan as a man of integrity, warmth, and dedication. He will be dearly missed and forever honored in the hearts of those who loved him.
