Jewell Garland Chesnee, SC. Jewell Garland, loving wife of 49 years to Ridge Garland of 418 Battleground Road went home to be with the Lord, Sunday February 10, 2019 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born March 23, 1948 in Chesnee, she was a daughter of the late James Roy McCraw and Janie Johnson McCraw. Jewell was a fifth grade ELA/Social Studies teacher at Mayo Elementary School for 48 years, was a graduate of Chesnee High School and Spartanburg Methodist, earning a BA degree from Limestone College and a Master’s in School Administration from Converse College. She was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church where she served as organist and pianist for over 30 years and also the children’s choir director. Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter, Gina Huskey and husband Tim of Chesnee; son, Ritchie Garland and wife Ashley of Mooresboro, NC.; sister, Sherry Morris and husband Michael of Chesnee; and her precious grandchildren, Collin Huskey, Connor Huskey, Ava Garland, Jude Garland and Lincoln Garland. The Garland family will greet family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Chesnee First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Chesnee First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Grogan, Dr. Troy Gregg and Dr. Gregg Mathis officiating. A private burial will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
