Jeanette Y. Newton
Rutherfordton, NC.
Jeanette Yelton Newton, 85, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, went peacefully to be with her Lord, surrounded by the love of her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro, NC.
Born May 8, 1940, in Spartanburg, SC. She was the daughter of the late John Dupree Yelton and Clemmie Jolley Yelton. Jeanette was a homemaker, a babysitter, and a member of Sandy Springs First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Alfred Franklin Newton, and her siblings Cletus Gilbert, Betty Jolley, and Alvin Yelton.
Jeanette is survived by her siblings Herman Gilbert, Donald Yelton (Barbara), Hoyt Yelton. and Brenda Ramsey; her children Randy Newton (Tami) of Union, SC, Sharon Dellinger (Mike) of Kinston, NC, and Sandra Francis (Andy) of Forest City, NC; five grandchildren, Hope Francis, Kyle Newton, Ashley Keatley, Mackenna Morris and Kelli Collier; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Newton, Mackinley Keatley, Landon Morris, and Kaleigh Collier.
Jeanette was an encouraging, strong-willed, nurturing, and sharp-minded woman who loved her family deeply and lived her life rooted in faith. She found great comfort and strength in God’s Word, especially in Romans 8:27–29 and Psalm 23, which reflected her trust in the Lord and His promises. Her life was a testimony of perseverance, compassion, and unwavering belief.
A faithful member of Sandy Springs First Baptist Church, Jeanette had a lifelong love for quilting and sewing and used her gifts to bless others in countless ways. She lovingly babysat generations of families and children, becoming a trusted and cherished caregiver throughout the neighborhood. Jeanette enjoyed people of all walks of faith and delighted in visiting churches all over the community. She had a special gift for making others smile and laugh, and never missed an opportunity to encourage someone who needed it.
Those who know her will remember her as a woman who lifted others up with her words, cared for her family with devotion, and walked faithfully with God throughout her life.
