James "Jamie" Wofford Thompson, 51 years old, son of the late Danny Wofford Thompson and Joyce Ann Smith Thompson, passed the morning of Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House. He was born on February 11, 1975, in Spartanburg and was a lifelong resident of the county. He was a plumber the past 10 years employed with Kirkland.

Survivors include his stepmother, Lynn Thompson. uncles, Robbie Painter (Wanda) of Chesnee, Mike Painter (Beth) of Chesnee, Perry Thompson of Chesnee, Timmy Thompson (Deborah) of Rutherford County, NC, aunt, Wanda Lawsen (Kenneth) of Chesnee, cousins, Tony Jolley (Darlene) of Chesnee, Cody Greer of Chesnee, Tasha Blackwell Desjardin (Chris) of Chesnee, Joy Jackson Brown (Brian) of Greenville, Summer Doherty (Chase) of North Carolina, girlfriend Jennifer Burns and her daughter Hope both of Chesnee.

A Celebration of Life honoring James will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, 2:00 pm, at New Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Preston Edmonds and Robbie Painter officiating.
