James Willard Splawn, 86, widower of Brenda Gail Splawn, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born January 17, 1937 in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Willard Pasco Splawn and Mamie Brown Splawn. He served our county in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Chesnee VFW Post 48.

Surviving are his sons, James Michael Splawn (Pam) of Duncan, Johnny Eugene Splawn (Tammy) of Duncan; sister, Gail Dowling; grandchildren, James Michael Splawn II, Kenzi Ballenger (Alex), Lannie Fields (Justin) and great-grandchildren, Skylee and Braylon.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Webb, Hazel Gilbert, Sarah Thomas and Faye Gowan.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Burial with Military honors will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
