Henry Franklin Horton, affectionately known to many as Frank, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born on November 6, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Horton lived a life marked by dedication, service, and entrepreneurship.
A proud graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Frank's commitment to his community was evident early on. He was a retired Master Chief in the United States Navy, a testament to his unwavering dedication and service to his country. Following his honorable military career, Frank channeled his passion for agriculture and business into founding and owning Frank’s Plants and Produce in Boiling Springs, a venture that became well-known and appreciated in the area. He was also an avid nature lover who enjoyed nature walks, his Beagles and rabbit hunting.
His legacy lives on through his beloved family. Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Bobbie Sherbert Horton, and his cherished children: Cecilia Lingo, Wanda Warlick and her husband Gaines. He held dear the memory of his late daughter, Kristie Kaye Horton. Family was the cornerstone of his life, which also included his grandchildren Brandon Dill and his wife Cori, Ethan Dill and his wife Michelle, Rachel White and her husband Ashley, Cliff Marshall and his wife Tracey, Ella Burke and her husband Clay, Virginia Crouse and her husband Andrew. His love extended warmly to his great-grandchildren Max Young, Lenora Dill, Vera Crouse, Claire Crouse, Jameson Burke, Matilda Flores, Nathaniel Marshall, Breham Marshall, Branson Marshall, and Barrett Marshall.
Frank is also remembered with affection by his surviving sister Nancy Bishop. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Horton and mother Bessie Kimbrell Horton, as well as siblings JoAnn Horton, Mary Horton, Rita Champman, Benny Horton, Marvin Horton, Ned Horton, and Ricky Horton.
Friends and family are invited to honor Frank's life with visitation at Buck Creek Baptist Church, located at 506 Buck Creek Road, Chesnee, SC 29323, on April 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow at noon at the same location with Reverend Scott Scrimpsher and Mr. Josh Seay officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The community and all who knew Frank Horton will remember him as a steadfast individual whose contributions to his family, his country, and his community were profound. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him
