Born September 1, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois he was a son of the late Thomas James Swift and Donna Marie Stein Swift and was a former Welder.

Surviving is his brothers, Tom Swift and wife Trish of Chesnee, Steven Swift and wife Carol of Oregan; sisters, Laura Scarand of California and Lisa Chanceler of California,
