Freddie Samuel Buckner, 81, loving husband of 59 years to Sue Coggins Buckner went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 31, 2026, at his home.

Born January 12, 1945, in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Fred James Buckner and Leamon Fox Buckner. He was a graduate of Chesnee High School and attended Clemson University. He was employed with Band &White Printing and after his retirement, he returned to the family farm and took up farming full time. He was also a life-long member of Cooley Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are his sons, Craig Buckner (Amanda) of Rutherfordton, NC, Collin Buckner (Cindy) of Chesnee, brothers, Daniel Buckner (Macie) of Inman, R.B. Buckner of Daytona, FL, grandchildren, Jeremy Howard (Nikki), Cole Buckner (Hope), Garrett Buckner (Hannah), Easton Buckner, niece, Jennifer Colestock, nephews, James Cooley, Randy Buckner and Alan Buckner and two great-grandsons, Deacon Howard and Boyd Buckner.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Janet Buckner Cooley (Gene Cooley), Mary Lou Buckner, and nieces, Jan Carnes and Jeannie Roberts.

A private family graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Springhill Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dave DeLand officiating.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cooley Springs Baptist Church Family Life Center Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Buckner's name to Cooley Springs Baptist Church.
