Ernest Braxton Sprouse 84, loving husband of Gayle Henderson Sprouse, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center, Mary Black Campus surrounded by his family. 

Born May 30, 1940 in Rutherford County, NC., he was a son of the late Hiram Sprouse and Elizabeth Bradshaw Sprouse. He was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad and his faith was in Jesus Christ. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Kevin Sprouse (Jennifer) of Mayo, Kerry Sprouse (Alician) of Campobello, Timothy Sprouse (Alisa) of Chesnee, Thomas Sprouse (Jennifer) of Pauline; brother, Robert “Bob” Sprouse (Judy) of Gaffney; grandchildren, Shana (Mike), Zach (Amber), Cameron (Madison), Amber (Grey), Hannah, Aaron, Autumn; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Chloe, sister, Mary McKinney and brothers, Tommy Sprouse and Edward Sprouse. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the residence, 148 Lake Road, Chesnee, SC 29323.
