Deborah Mae Ellison's Obituary

Deborah Mae Ellison, a cherished member of her community and a devoted mother and sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Chesnee, South Carolina, on April 6, 2026. Born on July 23, 1957, in Cowpens, South Carolina, Deborah lived a life marked by dedication, humility, and an abiding pride in her heritage.

During her working years, Deborah served as a cashier, where her warm demeanor and commitment to service left a positive impression on all who knew her. Beyond her professional life, she held a deep pride in her Native American heritage and was a devoted follower of the Baptist faith, which provided her strength and guidance throughout her life.

Deborah was the beloved daughter of the late Bud Willard Scruggs and Annie Faye Morrow Scruggs. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Michelle Hamrick and her husband Timmy of Chesnee, ensuring that her legacy of love and strength continues through the generations. She also leaves behind her brother, Reggie Scruggs and his wife Teresa of Chesnee, and four cherished grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

Her passing follows the earlier loss of two brothers, Tony and Roy Lee Scruggs, who preceded her in death. Their memories remain close to those who loved Deborah.

A Celebration of Life to honor Deborah’s memory will be announced at a later date. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harris-Nadeau Mortuary and Crematory.

Deborah Mae Ellison will be remembered for her heartfelt pride in her roots, her unwavering faith, and the love she freely gave to her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
