Barbara M. Mathison
Spartanburg, SC.
Barbara Marie Mathison, 82, widow of Henry Mathison, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 30, 1941 in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, she was a daughter of the late James Marshall and Marjorie Bers Marshall. In March of 1993, Henry Mathison became the owner and manager of the Peddler Steak House in Spartanburg. It’s fair to say that she made the best loved salad bar anyone had ever seen.
Barbara was even better known for her outgoing personality and generous hospitality. The phrase “life of the party” could have been invented for Barbara Mathison.
Surviving are her daughters, Heidi Ledford and husband Barry of Spartanburg, Heather Mathison of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Emily and Braeden Ledford both of Spartanburg and her sister Judy Kamer of Dayton Ohio.
The recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 in the Historical Church at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean Street Spartanburg, SC. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m.
