Mr. Larry D. Wood

Larry D. Wood Mayo, SC. Larry Dewitt Wood, 82, of Mayo, SC, went home to be with the Lord on March1, 2021. Mr. Wood was born on September 5, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC to the late William Leonard Wood and Catherine Lena Wood of Spartanburg, SC. Larry was the loving husband of the late Minnie Dorine Potter “Dodie” of 63 years. Together they had three daughters, Darla, Michele and Lori that he was very proud of and devoted to. Mr. Wood proudly served in the US Navy. Larry retired from Transamerica Insurance after a successful career of 35 years. He LOVED to buy, sell and trade most everything but especially lawnmowers after retirement! Mr. Wood loved his church (Southside Baptist Church – Chesnee) very much and served as a deacon and many other capacities. He was dedicated to visiting the shut ins both from the church and his community. For many years he visited shut ins and residents in nursing homes weekly.
